An Erasmus+ initiative transforming how young people develop emotional intelligence, empathy, and leadership — through innovative role-play and non-formal education across Europe.
The Booklet for Youth Workers is the heart of the EmLead project — a comprehensive, practitioner-focused guide that brings together all six training modules in a single, accessible resource. Designed with busy youth workers in mind, it offers clear methodologies, step-by-step facilitation guidance, and ready-to-use activities that can be adapted to a wide range of youth settings.
Whether you are running a one-off workshop, a multi-session programme, or integrating EmLead approaches into your existing practice, the booklet provides everything you need to get started with confidence. It covers theoretical foundations alongside practical tools, ensuring that both new and experienced youth workers find genuine value in every chapter.
The booklet is available as a free PDF download — no registration required. Simply click the button below to access your copy and begin exploring empathy-driven leadership with your group today.

The EmLead training programme is structured into six carefully designed modules, each addressing a distinct and essential competence area in youth work. Together, they form a cohesive journey — from building personal emotional awareness to practising ethical leadership in real-world contexts. Each module combines evidence-based theory with hands-on, non-formal learning activities that engage young people meaningfully.

Explore the foundations of emotional awareness, self-regulation, and empathy as core tools for effective youth work practice.

Equip young people with the confidence, communication skills, and collaborative mindset needed to lead purposefully and inclusively.

Develop essential interpersonal skills — from active listening to conflict resolution — while fostering genuine inclusion across difference.

Inspire young people to understand their role in society and take meaningful action as active, responsible citizens in their communities.

Build cross-cultural understanding, challenge stereotypes, and create spaces where diverse young people feel genuinely seen and respected.

Examine the values and responsibilities that underpin good leadership, and develop a personal ethical framework for youth work practice.
The EmLead platform is designed to be as accessible as possible to youth workers and practitioners across Europe. The full programme — including this landing page, the training modules, and the booklet — is available in six languages, reflecting the diverse partnership behind the project. EmLead is the result of a committed European partnership bringing together organisations with deep expertise in youth work, non-formal education, and innovative pedagogy. The consortium was formed around a shared belief: that empathy and emotional intelligence are not soft extras, but essential foundations for meaningful leadership — especially among young people navigating an increasingly complex world.
The project promotes experiential learning and peer collaboration as its core methodologies. Rather than delivering information passively, EmLead activities invite young people to engage, reflect, role-play, and challenge assumptions — creating genuine learning moments that stick long after the session ends. Youth workers are supported to facilitate these experiences with confidence, with clear guidance and adaptable tools throughout.
Inclusion is central to everything EmLead does. The programme has been deliberately designed to be accessible across different national contexts, cultural backgrounds, and levels of prior experience — ensuring that youth workers across all six partner countries, and beyond, can make full use of its resources. The project is funded under Erasmus+ Programme Project No. 2023-2-ES02-KA220-YOU-000179575.
